Overview
This event will not be streamed here. If you wish to watch the Zoom webinar, please register.
In November 2023 in Santiago, Chile, the Wilson Center’s Latin America Program launched its Latin America Energy Transition Initiative, an ambitious project in partnership with the US Department of State, the Inter-American Development Bank, US Embassy in Santiago, the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, AmCham Chile, and private sector partners.
Through high-level dialogues and policy research, the Wilson Center Latin America Energy Transition Initiative will highlight critical minerals and renewable energy investment opportunities in the Americas, improve the investment climate for these projects, and encourage greater support by the United States and multilateral development banks for efforts to expand the region’s role in clean energy supply chains in the Western Hemisphere. The initiative’s next major event will be held on October 8, 2024, a high-level dialogue in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The success of this important initiative depends upon partnerships with companies, foundations, civil society leaders, and governments committed to strengthening Latin America’s role in the global energy transition.

The Program provides insightful and actionable research for policymakers, private sector leaders, journalists, and public intellectuals in the United States and Latin America. To bridge the gap between scholarship and policy action, it fosters new inquiry, sponsors high-level public and private meetings among multiple stakeholders, and explores policy options to improve outcomes for citizens throughout the Americas. Drawing on the Wilson Center’s strength as the nation’s key non-partisan policy forum, the Program serves as a trusted source of analysis and a vital point of contact between the worlds of scholarship and action.
